About the role
At On the Beach, we are investing in tools and platforms that support our ambitious plans to scale the organisation and provide even more fantastic holidays for our customers.
We are looking for an Automation Engineer to help us rethink, redesign, rebuild and support our existing business processes and solutions. This role requires the ability to work alone and as part of a team, as well as coaching others.
What you’ll be doing day to day
- Design and build scalable automation frameworks for lo-code, no-code, RPA and agentic software engineering workflows through reusable components and frameworks to accelerate and standardise practices
- Operationalise and provide support for solutions, creating clear documentation for automated processes and workflows that set them up for resilience, error handling and scalability
- Analyse current business processes to spot automation and evaluate opportunities. Collaborate with business stakeholders to fully understand end-user needs and outcomes that need to be achieved
- Use data to articulate outcomes using both quantitative and qualitative methods
- Share your knowledge through coaching and mentoring colleagues
You’ll be a great addition to our team if you have the following skills, knowledge and experience
Technical
- Highly proficient in Python and other scripting languages such as Typescript, including test frameworks, debugging and performance analysis
- Demonstrable experience of building robust, scalable and supportable solutions using Agentic frameworks such as Langchain, Autogen, CrewAI or CoPilot Studio.
- Advanced use of MCP, and the role of MCP servers, with particular reference to security and how to mitigate risk.
- Demonstrable experience of working with structured and unstructured datasets in an Automation environment.
- Experience of Lo and No Code solutions, with Power Automate a bonus
- Knowledge of software engineering best practices and development methodologies with a background in infrastructure-as-code beneficial
- Critical understanding of security principles for automated, and particularly agentic, systems
Analytical and Problem solving
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to use data at all stages in the design, build and operationalising of automated systems
- Ability to design experiments and interpret results to improve system performance, reduction in errors and/or resilience
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently on complex challenges and across teams and disciplines
- A coaching and mentoring mindset, finding satisfaction in developing others
What to expect from our interview process
We’ll run a multi-stage interview process, one stage of which will be an in-person interview at our fabulous Aeroworks office in Manchester city centre.

Ways of working
Our fulltime hours are 37.5 per week, but we don't have rigid working hours so you can find the working pattern that's right for you. We have core working hours between 10am - 4pm, so we can collaborate and enjoy the social side of work.
We also have hybrid working so we all work from home and one day a fortnight from our Aeroworks office in Manchester City Centre. You are welcome in the office at any time however, so come in and collaborate!
