AI Automation Engineer
We are looking for an AI & Automation Engineer to help us rethink, redesign, rebuild and support our existing business processes and solutions.
At On the Beach, we’re redefining how people discover, plan and book their beach holidays. Our platform serves millions of customers every year, and we’re now investing in how AI and automation can transform the way our business operates.
We’re looking for an AI Automation Engineer to help us design and build the next generation of intelligent, automated systems. From AI-powered workflows to agent-driven solutions that improve how we work at scale.
As well as improving existing processes you'll be focusing on Building Automation systems using AI-led software engineering processes.
You’ll work across the business to help identify opportunities where automation and AI can make a meaningful impact, then design and build scalable solutions to solve them. This could include everything from integrating APIs and building services, to developing AI-powered workflows using modern LLM and agent frameworks.
About the role
This is not a traditional RPA role. You’ll be working at the intersection of automation, AI and our software engineering teams, helping us design intelligent systems that reduce manual effort, improve decision-making and unlock capacity across the organisation.
You’ll partner closely with engineering, product, and business teams to identify high-impact opportunities and turn them into robust, scalable solutions.
Why join this team?
You’ll help shape how a growing tech business scales through automation and AI.
Along the way, you’ll have the opportunity to experiment with modern tools and approaches, as well as maintaining legacy processes.
You’ll be part of a collaborative and supportive team that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement, and you’ll play a key role in defining what “great” looks like for automation at On the Beach.
What you’ll be doing day to day
Design and build scalable, intelligent automation solutions using Python and modern tooling, spanning low-code, no-code, and code-first approaches, and integrating APIs, services, data sources, and emerging AI and agent-based workflows across the business.
Collaborate with stakeholders to deeply understand problems and design solutions that are practical, measurable, and user friendly
Productionise solutions with a focus on reliability, observability, and security, including error handling and monitoring
Use data and qualitative feedback to measure success, run experiments, and continuously improve performance
Contribute to building best practices, standards, and reusable components across automation and AI
Coach and support others in adopting automation tools and ways of working
You’ll be a great addition if you have
Skills in Python, with experience building production-grade solutions
Experience designing and building automation systems or workflows beyond simple scripting
Hands-on experience with APIs, system integration, and working across distributed systems
Exposure to AI/LLM-based tooling or frameworks such as LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, or similar
Awareness of security considerations and creating guiderails when building automated or AI-driven systems
Nice to have:
Experience building or working with agent-based systems or orchestration framework
Exposure to infrastructure as code and CI/CD practices
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to break down complex challenges
Comfortable using data to designing experiments and iterating based on results
Ways of working
Clear and effective communicator, comfortable working across technical and non-technical teams
Self-motivated and able to take ownership of problems from discovery through to delivery (and beyond!)
Enjoys collaborating and sharing knowledge, with a mindset of helping others succeed
