About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Director of E-Commerce to join our Marketing department and lead the Acquisition team, continuing to drive our share growth, innovating to increase our visibility online, drive more traffic to the site and increase conversion.

This team drives our daily, weekly and monthly trading performance, spotting what’s selling well, what we should be promoting, what offers and / or activity we can run to stimulate or satisfy market demand better than our competitors, and working closely with the wider Marketing team to create compelling book now campaigns with effective onsite merchandising. It goes without saying we want to continue to lead the way with best in class performance across all channels, and build on our success to date, continuing to innovate and experiment and in particular with the new possibilities data gives us, following recent investment by our Tech & Product teams in personalization capabilities.

This is a high profile role within a high profile team, with strong relationships required with our CTO, CFO and CEO / Founder and the ability to work effectively with Product & Tech. Led by newly appointed CMO and Marketing Director, this role will be critical to delivering our mission to make On the Beach the favourite (most preferred and largest) holiday provider in our chosen fields.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Coach, mentor and build a strong Acquisition team, fostering a culture of high growth and drive to improve our performance each month, sharing your expertise in performance channels (PPC, SEO, CRM, retargeting, data / personalisation)
  • Develop performance-marketing strategy to improve our ROI and to scale the business, in particular working with Tech & Product to increase our use of data / personalisation, to improve performance at both a micro and macro level throughout the purchasing funnel
  • Understand how our channels work together, and improve how we understand the customer journey from an acquisition / ROI perspective by channel, including the impact of ATL
  • Bring to life complex data and insights in a way that it is actionable for the business
  • Work to ensure that site merchandising optimises sell through, promotion of best sellers or focused product, and is visually appealing
  • Constant analysis of customer behaviour through web analytics to improve on core KPIs such as increasing conversion and reducing bounce rates and abandoned baskets, implementing and running A/B tests for optimal outcome
  • Senior relationship owner with partners and agencies including Google, Bing, Facebook etc.

 

Skills & Experience

  • We are ambitious and we are in a hurry, so you need to be obsessive about driving growth, and where our next percentageage of market share will come from. You will be creative, curious and challenging, capable of thinking differently and developing new ways of working, able to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in
  • You will be managing huge budgets so you will also need to be strategic and analytical, driven by results, comfortable with large data sets and able to identify actionable trends and insights, as well as being on top of the day to day detail
  • You are a tech enthusiast, comfortable with Tech, Data & Product teams and able to communicate effectively to scope out Marketing requirements, keen to be at the fore of industry and category developments. In addition, it goes without saying a strong expertise in PPC, SEO and retargeting
  • Influential and effective in communication, you will be able to win hearts and minds to drive us forward

Remote Working

Currently we are all working remotely, however once things start to get back to normal, our primary place of work will be our Aeroworks office in the centre of Manchester. However, after a successful switch to remote working due to the COVID-19 crisis, flexible remote working opportunities may be available.
