.NET Software Engineer

What you will be doing:

  • .NET programming

  • Creating new systems in C# using TDD to create SOLID code

  • Updating and improving existing systems written in C# and VB.NET including (but not limited to) introducing unit tests when appropriate

  • Javascript programming

  • Creating and updating User Interfaces in Angular and React, using TDD, that are relevant, functional and beautiful!

  • Supporting the current applications
  • Ability to diagnose application/ data/ infrastructure problems and either fix or escalate if no resolution can be found. Provide accurate and timely fixes to business applications.

Essential Experience

  • Writing and deploying correct and performant C# code in a commercial environment including (but not limited to) Web Forms, Mvc (any), Wcf and WebApi
  • SQL Server or another RDBMS
  • GIT (with extensive branching/merging)
  • Modern collaborative development practices including TDD/BDD and pair programming
  • Good problem analysis/diagnosis skills

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

  • Good exposure/participation with high-traffic/scalable websites.
  • Experience developing modern user interfaces using modern Javascript (currently we use Angular and React)
  • Experience with Document Databases (e.g. MongoDb)
  • Experience with ASP.NET Core
  • Experience with modern web technologies (e.g. Local and Session Storage, Web Sockets and OAuth2/OpenConnect)
  • Experience with scripting (CMD Batch, Powershell, and ideally Linux/Mac shells)
  • Exposure to Continuous integration (we use Jenkins) and deployment (we use Octopus)
  • Exposure to Automated testing using SpecFlow and Selenium
  • Exposure to queue and service bus technology (we use RabbitMq)
  • Some experience of Ruby and ideally Rails either commercial or hobbyist
